Join our team! Lavelle Industries, a leading rubber and plastics manufacturer, is seeking a Sustaining Engineer to join the team. This position’s work is being the product champion for all existing product models. Work may include modification of existing products, including product line extensions, as well as part qualification for new tools or repaired tools. The individual in this position will be hands-on in the manufacturing and assembly process to protect design intent. This position requires knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles, basic concepts, and procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to provide solutions to existing concerns as well as be a part of risk management. They should also be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals within the company. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Be able to quickly learn all existing products and perform engineering calculations to derive design intent.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of part evaluation and qualification.
  • Update drawings, models, and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Perform ECRs to update products as changes arise.
  • Conduct product verification and competitive testing of products and associated data.
  • Provide a first-level review of CTQs (Criticals to Quality) providing a high-level QA on standard nomenclature, standard dimensional tolerances, GC&T, and fit and function analysis.
  • Very strong decision-making and problem-solving ability (analysis and troubleshooting).
  • Must be organized and able to handle multiple projects at once.
  • The position requires good communication as you work cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Utilizes or design test equipment/gauges to provide product verification, validate product requirements, and conduct competitive testing.
  • Interface with customers to ensure product/component performance to customer specifications and to appropriate standards.
  • Lead DOE (Design of Experiments)
  • Dynamic structural analysis (mold analysis, Finite Element Analysis, component/material selections).

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 1-8+ years of engineering experience.
  • Demonstrate product development experience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and push hard to meet deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of design and application of molding manufacturing processes.
  • Must be fluent with 3-D CAD, preferably in SolidWorks.
