Join our team! Lavelle Industries is seeking a Controls Technician to collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams. The role involves improving electrical infrastructure, PLC controls, and robotics, as well as troubleshooting and enhancing equipment in Press, Mixing, and Packaging operations. Responsibilities include supporting equipment improvement projects, using PDSA methodology for continuous improvement, and assisting with the implementation of technical advancements. The ideal candidate will focus on process improvement, equipment reliability, and sustaining results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide controls software, hardware, programming and troubleshooting support to the maintenance department. 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of existing equipment and processes.
  • Assist with developing and integrating electrical controls systems for machines and manufacturing processes to expand capability and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Write, edit, and enhance existing PLC and robotic programs.
  • Champion safety in design, work practices and plant operations.
  • Assist in projects that support improvement of reliability, safety, product quality and process stability throughout the production areas. 
  • Supports manufacturing equipment design including mechanical, electrical and control systems.
  • Support manufacturing engineers in development of new automation and integration into the production process.
  • Write specifications and provide accurate BOM, schematics, panel layouts, SOP and related documentation for new equipment and existing equipment improvement projects. 
  • Provide technical training to maintenance and key employees.

Experience:

The successful candidate will have a blend of education and experience for this position:

  • 5+ years hands-on manufacturing support in a manufacturing facility
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest
  • Problem-solving experience utilizing basic tools such as Root Cause Analysis, PDSA problem solving and DOE.
  • Basic experience in PLC ladder logic, Vision Systems, HMI screens, Servo Motion control, PID loop, and robotics.
  • Proficient with programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge in scripted programming a plus
